Help me find this oil leak.

Post by dikidera »

Ever since I changed my head gasket, I've had a massive oil leak from the general location of the intake camshaft rear seal(where my camshaft position sensor is). Oil pools just below it but interestingly some of it seems to also end up on the intake manifold as well.

I changed the camshaft seal again...and it didn't fix it, I am wondering of my cam cover is leaking.

I am losing about half a liter oil per 100-200 km or so. And it doesn't happen idling, but when stepping on the car say 4000 5000RPM even if only briefly.

Have you tried the UV oil dye and UV flashlight? I found it at an ordinary parts store for my 850 oil cooler hose leak.

Wow I didn't know there was such a thing. Have to look for it.

If it ends up being the cam cover...off it goes or can I seal it from the outside?

Took me a while but finally found it. It was a cam cover leak. A little bit of headgasket sealant on a very small area has so far fixed it. Obviously time and driving conditions will tell.
