More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
August 30, 2023 the calculated growth rate for all United States was 0.0105. This is the highest growth rate since February 22, 2023, when it was 0.0108. The number of new Covid-19 cases are rising again, but the increase is still fairly low.

The CDC has announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and more states have ended Covid-19 reporting. Since May 14, 2023, 33 states and territories have not reported results. However, I still have been receiving reports from other states through Worldometer. I will be continuing daily reports as long as the information is relevant.

State growth rates for September 22, 2023. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.131) with 25,738 cases, New York (0.105) with 7,146,817 cases, North Dakota (0.102) with 294,274 cases, Delaware (0.056) with 337,258 cases, and Maine (0.043) with 327,359 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 429 of the last 457 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 307 of the last 352 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 91 of the last 110 days. Delaware has been in the top 5 states for 92 of the last 102 days. Maine has been in the top 5 states for 16 of the last 32 days.

Several states have stopped posting new case and new death numbers. I will back calculate where possible. These Districts and states have not reported in the last 30 days or more: Alabama, Arkansas, California, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Veteran Affairs, US Military, Navajo Nation, and Federal Prisons.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00501 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.00635. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 54 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been rising again the last several weeks. There have been 387 of last 599 days with decreasing active case numbers.

In early August, the number of reported active cases had dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021. As of September 4, active cases are once again above 1,000,000.

There have now been 108 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 32% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.

I have three friends here who have tested positive in the last two weeks. Weird. I thought we were pretty much done. But I recently read you might have a Covid shot like you have a Flu shot every fall.

State growth rates for September 28, 2023. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.140) with 25,757 cases, New York (0.104) with 7,164,529 cases, North Dakota (0.072) with 294,274 cases, Delaware (0.051) with 337,836 cases, and Maine (0.038) with 327,864 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 435 of the last 463 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 313 of the last 358 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 97 of the last 116 days. Delaware has been in the top 5 states for 98 of the last 108 days. Maine has been in the top 5 states for 22 of the last 38 days.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00745 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.00735. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 50 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been rising again the last several weeks. There have been 390 of last 605 days with decreasing active case numbers.
