Did? How about planning on doing today? I need to change the oil in the 850. I've got drain plug gaskets and I've got filters, but I think I have to go get some more oil. I only have 1 gallon of Rotella T6 5w40, that I know of. I've got other oil, but I'd rather not mix weights/brands.

I thought you could mix brands of oil. I know you can’t mix shell and Mobil gasoline ….

I've been using Shell Rotella T6 5w40. I do have some Shell Rotella Gas Truck, but it's only 5w30. It would probably be ok when cold but I'm afraid it would separate and float on the top of the 5w40 when hot.

Well the 'boss' washed the R today, filled the tank with fuel stabilizer and 91 octane and drove the car 5km home. Hopefully that got some of the cleaner/stabilizer into the whole fuel system. I now have to swap the tires/rims over for the storage set and then cover the car up for the winter in the old (heated) garage. Finally I'll connect the trickle charger and the car can sleep again until next year!

Then have the 06 XC70 winter tires/rims to fit and then clean all the rims and store for next year.

That should be enough to get the stabilizer mixed in. She should be ready for hibernation now!

First time hearing that oil will separate when hot.

It won't. I was trying out-abscate, abscate.

I ended up buying Valvoline's "European" oil. It's a 5 quart jug, so I'll top it off with Rotella T6. Both are 5w40 oils.
