Ok so if I drill a hole into my tank cap, i'll receive a check engine light ?
I'm just in front of my car. Wheel off, wheel liner off, there is nothing I can access to.

My system seems a little bit different. There is no air filter, the air hose is coming directly to the fuel filling hose.

Under the plastic case there is nothing appart these 2 hoses.
So i'm wondering how can I unclogg this venting valve without falling appart the entire gas tank......

Edit: it appears that I don't have any canister at the place it is supposed to be:

Picture taken above the filter, in the trap inside the trunk.
Now i'm just lost lol.

For the venting issue- solved.
The problem was coming from the tank filling cap. After i put some air into the venting hose, a gas geyser did came from the tank so i guess it is working :D
But when vacuum on the cap, no air was coming. Opened it and the valve gasket was pretty dead. I drilled a hole, waiting for the new cap !

Canister failure can happen. If it got flooded with fuel it can make it difficult to fill the car, but I have only possibly heard of one being replaced. The bigger issue is the roll over valve jamming closed so not allowing the tank to vent air quickly enough.

Hello there.
Following gas issues that I had since I acquired my car, and after gaining some good advices on this forum, I put a check valve on my gas line just before fuel filter.
For the first time, this week, I happened to finish my full gas tank, till gas light came on. Mesuring on both senders connectors, I could manage that the left tank did fill the right one all the way till empty tank.

I drilled a hole in the gas tank cap, no engine light for this so I guess i'll leave it like that to ensure that there is no vacuum in my tank. Maybe it did help to have the good pressure to activate the venturi pump.

Thanks everyone!
cheers
Cyril

I strongly suggest NOT emptying the tank below 1/4 level. As the fuel pumps from Volvo are no longer available and it requires dropping the rear subframe and tank or cutting a hole in the rear floor to replace the pump with some aftermarket pump, keeping fuel around the pump to keep it cool is strongly advised!
