August 30, 2023 the calculated growth rate for all United States was 0.0105. This is the highest growth rate since February 22, 2023, when it was 0.0108. The number of new Covid-19 cases are rising again, but the increase is still fairly low.volvolugnut wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023, 13:41
More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.
These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.
Again, results change daily.
The CDC has announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and more states have ended Covid-19 reporting. Since May 14, 2023, 33 states and territories have not reported results. However, I still have been receiving reports from other states through Worldometer. I will be continuing daily reports as long as the information is relevant.
State growth rates for October 11, 2023. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.
For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.180) with 25,796 cases, New York (0.081) with 7,195,679 cases, North Dakota (0.072) with 295,008 cases, Maine (0.042) with 328,791 cases, and Delaware (0.042) with 338,651 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 448 of the last 476 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 326 of the last 371 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 110 of the last 129 days. Maine has been in the top 5 states for 35 of the last 51 days. Delaware has been in the top 5 states for 111 of the last 121 days.
Several states have stopped posting new case and new death numbers. I will back calculate where possible. These Districts and states have not reported in the last 30 days or more: Alabama, Arkansas, California, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Veteran Affairs, US Military, Navajo Nation, and Federal Prisons.
My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00503 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.00372. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 46 states and territories did not report new cases.
Daily active case counts have been rising again the last several weeks. There have been 399 of last 618 days with decreasing active case numbers.
In early August, the number of reported active cases had dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021. As of September 4, active cases are once again above 1,000,000.
There have now been 108 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 32% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.
With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.
