Hi,
I've been reading about this of late also. It's spec'd for GM cars from what i have read.
I have also read now that Prestone says it is ok to mix with DexCool in a GM vehicle but not sure about a Volvo.
There seems to be varied opinions on the web with some things.
Yesterday I was looking up the density of copper (99.9 percent pure or close to that). I wanted to verify the thickness of the so-called 1 ounce copper clad circuit boards copper layer.
I found right away a value of 8.94 kg/m^3 which is close to 9 kilograms per cubic meter.
Now you have to realize that 8.94kg is close to 19 pounds, and i could easily pick up a 19 pound weight as most people can. Now imagine trying to pick up a hunk of copper metal that measures one meter (about 39 inches) on each side. That's a hunk of metal that is larger than a foot rest for a comfort chair. Could you pick it up? Sure, if it really weighed 19 pounds. Problem is, it's much heavier than that. The real density is closer to 8940 kg/m^3 which would make it a LOT heavier than 19 pounds. No single person could pick that much weight up especially in that bulk form.
So there you have it, a seemingly good reference to the density but off by a factor of 1000. That's the web for ya. Caution is the word.
Imagine if you used that information to design a machine that would hand a one cubic meter block of copper to a human for loading onto a truck. The first use would kill the guy or smash his fingers at the least.

Re: Dexcool coolant ?
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

That’s just a units mistake, a la NASA and the Gimli Glider....
Unless you are fooling with Osmium or Iridium metals are about 10g/cc, liquids 1g/cc, gases 1/200th of that GOT.
Good engineers SWAG everything so that they catch crap like this
Dad anecdote ....1970s. Computers were just coming into the rage in his field , aerodynamic structural dynamics, the study of flutter and vibration or why planes, rockets , and things fall apart.
In come the new fresh faced computer guys from MIT, who tell the old guy they have calculated the flutter eigenvalues on the new Space shuttle wing design
Dad...” give me a minute......thinks......ok
NooB: 13 , 57, 157
Dad: 13, 157 are good...go back and find your mistake in the program that gave you 57
NooB: Gulp....

To be sure you cannot go wrong with the Volvo branded blue stuff. There isn’t very many parts at O’Reillys or Pep Boys that should find themselves on a Volvo.

The G05 works fine and is readily available at reasonable price.

I'm sort of freaking out about this and want to get the car in to get this dexcool out. I have a tendency to over-react so maybe I can get some peace of mind by asking -----
I had the O'Reilly universal in there (always used that) and I just put maybe a half gallon of the Dexcool in. Going to call the shop tomorrow for an appt. Hopefully, it's not a case of "immediate" damage? I'm reading where rather in time it can clog up the system? I should be ok for a few days you think?

As said, don't worry. Just drain and flush, then fill with any GO5 rated coolant. Zerex is one you can get at O'Reillys, AutoZone, etc..
I believe it's a gold colored jug and fluid.
