04 xc70 transmission issues

I am experiencing slippage when transmission is hot. Is is intermittent but seemed to be getting worse. Transmission now will slip and buck in 1st and 2nd gear. My local transmission guy says junk the car

. 262k. Had it for 5 years and 80k and always cared for it well. Local junk yard says they have a used 180k transmission for $450. Not sure what to do. Right now its not acting up but am not sure if it will again soon

Common problem. May find same issue with the junk yard one. I assume you have changed the fluid.

Both would need a new valve body. However at such mileage and age they both would need a full rebuild. I myself wouldn't put a new valve body into an old transmission that was driven with slippage.
