I just purchased a '93 Volvo 850 w/ 88K...
I was told by the seller that his mechanic said the belt was broken & that it would be approx a $200 fix.
I've found this resource:
http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/sunroof.htm
but was wondering if anyone could offer some other support... My sunroof is in the down position - the resource requires it be open to fiddle with it.
When I press the sunroof button, the motor makes a sound (in both directions) it sounds like a motor is spinning freely...
thanks guys!
Sunroof: motor sounds fine, is the belt broken?
their is no belt, but 2 wire type tracks, and the ends snap off which attaches to the roof. i replaced mine and only needed one, but mine would move only one side of the roof. you may also have a gear problem in the motor. try removing the motor, just 3 screws and take a look to see if the gear is tight on the motor, you will see the 2 wires they have teeth on them are they stripped? its a "easy fix but requires removing the headlinner to do the tracks, but motor is easy access in 5 minutes let me know email any questions [email protected], I still have one good track if needed and maybe a extra motor
thanks for the info - I'll shoot you an email!jschick wrote:their is no belt, but 2 wire type tracks, and the ends snap off which attaches to the roof. i replaced mine and only needed one, but mine would move only one side of the roof. you may also have a gear problem in the motor. try removing the motor, just 3 screws and take a look to see if the gear is tight on the motor, you will see the 2 wires they have teeth on them are they stripped? its a "easy fix but requires removing the headlinner to do the tracks, but motor is easy access in 5 minutes let me know email any questions [email protected], I still have one good track if needed and maybe a extra motor
