Those hoses are so stiff, and the ends so specific they can pretty much only go one way. If you have them rebuilt, pay close attention to how the end fittings are clocked, as mentioned.RedBrickCollector wrote: ↑07 Dec 2023, 08:29 Pulled out the oil cooler lines and installed the blanking plate. I've decided that since I live in a hot country with terrible traffic, I can't validate Robert's experience for my own application without at least trying it first, and I'll have the hoses repaired eventually.
Now I'm wondering if it was hooked up properly to begin with. Which port should go to the upper and which one to the lower? The bracket was not connected so it's clearly been removed at some point. On my car the port farther from the engine was the one hooked up to the lower line.
Robert Spinner is way harder on his equipment than virtually everybody else on this Forum. His 850T5R, Black Panther has over 425k on the original bottom end. Not only does he Track his car on occasion, he has 1) a trailer hitch, and tows other cars hundreds if not thousands of miles, and 2) a giant roof carrier, always loaded with enough stuff to break it. The back seats are always folded down, and it is normally so loaded he can't use the interior mirror to see out the rear window. Most of the miles on Panther happened when he lived in Albuquerque, NM. His earlier research included regular oil analysis - I think he used Blackstone.
You're going to be fine.
