So you pay & receive the title, scurry to the DMV and they give you a registration & plate without having the car inspected (safety and emissions) ??? Then you can drive it home. With the caveat that you may need a tow instead.

Do you have some period of time to accomplish the inspections? Say Maryland for instance. I'm close to the Bel Air Auto Auction now on Rt40 near Aberdeen.

I don't know about MD but in NC if the car is from out of state whether personal or purchased you won't need an inspection but do the following Registration period. Also, since the original Title from CA was in my name they just said to drive the car with the CA plates till the CA Registration expires then apply for a new Title and new NC Plates.

As for out of state purchases just go the NC DMV and pay for a new Title and Registration & get plates. Inspection will be required the following year. The recent cars from Capital were delivered to NC so no driving through nor interactions with other states DMV.

Capital does not issue titles, nor do they do tag work. Win a lot at auction, pay using one of the several methods very clearly stated on their website, and they send the original signed title along with their dealer reassignment portion filled in and notarized, along with a notarized bill of sale. Remove the purchased lot in any way or fashion that fits the circumstance, but removed it shall be. Storage fees begin after the second day following the auction.
Anybody who thinks it is possible to buy a car at an online auction for cheap money and drive it home is delusional.
The amount of pure fantasyland nonsense that has been posted on the Forum about doing business with Capital is disappointing.
There are auction houses all over the country doing this same work. Buying anything sight-unseen on the internet is rife with risk. Do business with one near where you live, pay what you're comfortable risking, and hope for the best.

It’s probably a 1% chance to drive a car home from one of these auctions without drama.

Confucious say, tow it home

One additional Note on these auctions

To quote the Guru Swami - “This game is best played close to home”

There is a quote tool on the auction which gives you and estimate to tow your new prize home. I would 2x any estimate you get on that tool. For example, I got quoted $370 from Temple Hills to 11777 NY. I think it’s at least $250 in tolls on that route , no way that tow is less than $700

Flatbed is about $4 per loaded mile for a same day trip

The link is to ACERTUS which Capital recommends. Not knowing how the process worked I called ACERTUS direct and got a quote after the Auction. It was about $125 more than the quote provided on Capital's website.

https://acertusdelivers.com/

Cars are photographed by their contracted drivers at time of pickup and sent to the customer. ACERTUS is an excellent company having used them twice. The good thing about using the link is you don't have to pay storage fee at Capital. I believe storage fees start after 3 business days. Depending on how busy they are or the weather it should take around 3 to 7 days to pickup and 1 to 2 days to deliver. Driver's are independent but very professional.

Both times were 3 car haulers. The quoted price on the website is from Door to Door and is paid through Capital's web portal. There is good paper / email trail so no changes and Capital is responsive with questions and inquiries.

you probably have to the haulers pay return tolls.

The price that is quoted on Capital Auction is the price you pay to your door. Since I don't know the area I chose a 11777 NY address as an example of cost to ship. I chose the Danfords Hotel & Marina, 25 E Broadway, Port Jefferson, NY 11777 as a point of reference.

Let's say you are the winner of this 2005 V50 tomorrow. The web link will go away after someone wins the auction. Now only the winner will see that link and can decide whether to use Capital's shipper. The price to 11777 is only $390 no more no less no hidden fees or tips etc..., Temple Hill to 11777 NY. I do personally leave a tip and you can tell the driver's are not expecting it as it's nothing high end.

In speaking with the drivers they will go on to their next 3 car pickup and so on until it takes them back to their point of origin which may not be in Temple Hill or 11777 NY.
