When I was cleaning the older parts when I was cataloging all my spares, I found a pair of rear wheel hub bearings from our 93 850 sedan.

These were replaced when the car was probably around 12 years old and perhaps 8-90k miles on it. Turned out these were not the issue but the rear parking brake shoes had delaminated and the shop wrongly diagnosed the issue.

I kept the parts as they were not bad but never cleaned them up before storing them. I recalled they were the early P80 (92-94?) 4 - lug bolt hubs, but what sis surprise me was the condition of the reluctor rings! They look like new!

They do have a pin that fits in the Volvo door frames. I’d always wondered what they were for!

Those hubs look newer than most components in any of my Volvos. 😆

Except they are 4 bolt and you have the wheels to go with them.......! I do have a set of center caps for the early alloys that the car came with!

Finally fixed the PS rattle in the suspension/steering that has been plaguing me on my T5 for a while.

After I took care of the cv joint rattle, which I thought was it, this other rattle still remained behind on smaller bumps at low speed. Annoying and tedious on the side roads around here.

Swapped out arms and end links a couple weeks back, but that didn't solve it either.

Frustrated I was under the car pushing/pulling/levering things, trying to find the source of the noise.

At one point I gave the tie rod assembly a sharp thump with my hand and heard a clang/clank. There was no looseness to be felt in any of the assembly though, that I could find.

Ordered some parts and they arrived a couple days ago. It was barely 20*F today, and supposed to get colder later, but I needed to test this out. I tolerated the weather just long enough to get the PS stuff swapped (new inner and outer tie rods).
After removing the old unit complete, it seemed to be OK, EXCEPT for in one direction. There was a slight knock before the ball in the end would move. Every other way it was tight and quiet.
Took the car out for a quick drive and that rattle is gone. Finally.

Seeing as I still need to do the other side, I assembled the new stuff the same length as what cane out (another reason to have pulled it all out as a set), and stuck it in place. It's close enough to not affect the alignment (too much, if at all) and I'll recheck it all when both sides are done here when the weather warms a bit.

I bet it feels great to finally have that sorted out! Those sorts of suspension issues can be such a pain to find. I'm working out the steering on my Silverado, which I think I will finally be able to take care of with ANOTHER new steering box, upper control arms, and lower ball joints.

Scraped a wheel weight off on a curb buried in snow, and scraped up both rims on that side. I bought this car for winter, but it still bugs me, since the rims were previously unmarred. All this for a bacon cheese burger on a snowing blowing night.

But the real question... was it a good burger?

I slid my 850 into a guard rail on my way back from getting a McDonald's coffee in college... Oh how far I've come since then! I remember it being a good coffee at least.

I just picked up a Starbucks Frappucino when I was rear ended in my E46 a couple months ago. And here I am... still have yet to get the car repaired. I've done all I can do on the mechanical side, which was fix the shifter carrier. I'm still bitter over the whole situation... insurance companies are the worst.
I guess it's partially on me for not just taking the easy route and opting for one of their suggested chain collision shops. But I refuse to let any of them touch my car... I've seen the quality of work from these places, and it's disgusting.
