1996 850 AWD Brown 210/211 Relay?

Post by Randomnamegenerator »

Hello All,

I have just picked up a new to me 850 and I would like to add remote central locking.

I took the kicker panel off hoping to see a grey 210/211 relay as shown in a couple of different guides. But I was greeted by this brown 210/211 relay, is the same relay and compatible with the "guard 2" key fobs like in the screenshot.

Thanks in advance

After googling a little I found a old post on a European forum suggesting that it's the same or at least it works with the fobs

Now just need to find the fobs😅

Being a European car, they got chipped keys earlier in than we did on this side of the Atlantic. being a 96 (that may be what we call a MY97 here) then there is a chance it does.

Not sure how that may or may not affect installing fobs in terms of finding the correct ones for your car. I know from later cars, the key is different to the fob in terms of it starts the car, opens the doors manually, and the fob only works for opening/closing the doors. Maybe someone like Misha who has more experience or Goupil might be able to enlighten us all on this.

In my lists i have one verified visually Brown 210/211 with Part Number 9177999 which had Remote Part Number 944281 with it originally.

Mine 850 has black 210/211 but same like remote too ( thanks for kind person donating one! ).

Thank you for confirming xanthefin

Unfortunately 2 cheap Fobs came and went from local eBay the week before I had confirmed the car was 100% going to be mine.

The search (for a cheap one) continues!
