2013A XC90 - 200,000 Miles Engine Timing...

I am suspecting items 26 is failing. The oil and dirt mix is growing along the seam. I'm highlighting serviceable items; what would you include? Here is the 150,000 Miles thread viewtopic.php?p=608763

I have removed items up to my 150,000 Miles thread; found a very useful discussion here https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/oil- ... on.614019/.

Now, getting close to locking crank and cam before removing item #10 outer cover - see previous diagram; more replacement parts...

I can use some help. The two camshafts are in sync; and crank rotates clockwise with no issue.

My confusion, while crank was ZEROED at 6 O'Clock with pin inserted, I found the two cams 180º off for cam-lock tool to seat. So, I unpinned the ZERO and rotated crank few times for the intake cam offset-reference to situate at upper half, and exhaust offset-reference to position at the bottom half so the cam-lock tool can be inserted.

Now after a dozen rotating of crank - the two cam references appear vertical 90º but in sync. How many crank rotations does it take before the crank ZEROS again and camshafts would situate of the cam-lock tool to seat?

I'm using following IPD Engine timing tool set for this service, and following VIDA for Camshaft Chain procedure which is mostly graphic with very little description. Here is the tool set...

A corresponding thread at SwedeSpeed https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/2013 ... st-8174846

For clarity, I seated each half of cam-tool to respective cam. The cam will need 3 quarter-turns clockwise for the two halves of cam-lock to link; however, the crank tool pin being at ZERO is unlikely -- does it matter?

While on auxiliary side, assessing the outer cam cover removal, the four T40 screws are behind the coolant hose; the hose will have to come off. The reassembly with new seal after the outer cam cover is installed will take verification.

...some more replacement parts.

The water pump and ps pump were serviced during 150,000 miles; replacing seal and center pin #32 will refresh the install. Will the hose #39 at risk of coolant leaking after it being re-connected?

Leaving tensioner attached to compressor bracket, but having a spare screw at hand of reinstall.

Following two o'rings complete the parts it will take to put it back together; YES to replacing coolant, steering fluid, motor oil, filter and replacing the drain valve in filter housing.
- Vacuum Pump O-Ring # 31401249
- Power Steering Hose O-Ring # 988119

The intake manifold gaskets have hardened, replacing item #2, and servicing TB will take #4.

If you are reusing #39, depending on how old it is, this could leak since the o-ring is compressed to the tube shape (plus any corrosion over time). If this is original, change it. Not worth trying to dig into the parts and deal with it again. Plus, the grey clip can break upon removal and sometimes it needs to since corrosion and time can make removal difficult.

Before installing #39 hose, you always want to clean and remove corrosion from the tube so it’s smooth for the o-ring to seal. Use an ultra fine scotch brite or fine sand paper.
