About to replace the fuel pump, send unit, etc. When I'm doing that job, does anyone have any thoughts how I could clean the tank? Maybe it's not even really possible without dropping it? Car has a lot miles and I suspect the tank is filthy. Figured I could manually siphon out what gas is left in the tank before I start the job after I let it run dry and then use the access when the old pump is removed. The only thing I can think of doing is some kind of "vacuum", but VERY VERY leery of doing that (have seen the YouTube videos) given the fumes that will still be around even if the tank is "empty". Any thoughts on another approach?
Thank you.

Any symptoms that indicate it needs cleaned?
I would run some Berryman B12 Chemtool before and after the job, and put a new fuel filter on it once the repair is complete.
If you were going to fill it with a bucket of bolts and nuts, clean gravel, etc then you need to make sure you get all that out, then clean it…and I’d be nervous you may be plugging fuel filters with gunk.

Lots of miles should not be a problem. Lots of time sitting could be more of a problem if fuel 'varnish' is coating the inside. With the fuel pump removed, you may be able to look in the tank and see if it needs cleaned. To really clean it I think it has to be removed. I have had a couple tanks cleaned by a radiator shop after removing.
