This looks great, ride height, wheel/tire size... chef's kiss. It looks like the wheels have been dished. You can see the seam where they were extended.

Very very nice. In Oregon! They should drive it over and I’ll make an offer! The rusty one I was looking at was a ‘64 also.

Those could be the optional 5 1/2” factory wheels. I think the red coupe I posted on page 1 is on those. They’re only 5.5, but they have a small offset I think.

Just love that red wagon! Those steelies look awesome. Does anyone remember steel wheel 'banding' to make them wider?

Yep. My new Alfa wheels were banded by a machine shop probably in the 70’s. 4 1/2” stock, all width added to the outside to 6x15.

Years ago I tried to find shops that would widen steel wheels, but they’ve sort of vanished. It was old hotrodder craft.

You can also split your old center disk / hub from the rim and find a new barrel in the size you want, weld the disk into the barrel (accurately). That way you can pick your offset.

The '73 BMW 2002 is very similar in trim, body fit, and interior to my '73 Mercedes 280.
