More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
The CDC has announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and more states have ended Covid-19 reporting. Since May 14, 2023, 33 states and territories have not reported results. However, I still have been receiving reports from other states through Worldometer. I will be continuing daily reports as long as the information is relevant.

State growth rates for February 23, 2024. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: Wyoming (0.203) with 195,700 cases, US Virgin Islands (0.159) with 26,117 cases, New York (0.079) with 7,552,298 cases, North Dakota (0.072) with 308,176 cases, and Puerto Rico (0.026) with 1,461,140 cases. Wyoming has been in the top 5 states for 34 of the last 39 days. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 37 of the last 37 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 461 of the last 506 days. North Dakota has been 0in the top 5 states for 245 of the last 264 days. Puerto Rico has been in the top 5 states for 68 of the last 74 days.

Several states have stopped posting new case and new death numbers. I will back calculate where possible. These Districts and states have not reported in the last 30 days or more: Alabama, Arkansas, California, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Veteran Affairs, US Military, Navajo Nation, and Federal Prisons.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00331 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.00343. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 53 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last couple weeks. There have been 471 of last 753 days with decreasing active case numbers.

New Hospital admissions are reported by CDC as number of admissions per 100,000 of county population. Reported for February 10, 2024 were 2916 counties (91%) with less than 10 new admissions per 100,000 (low risk area). There were 280 counties (8.7%) with less 10 to 19.9 new admissions per 100,000 (medium risk area). There were 25 counties (.78%) with more than 20 new admissions per 100,000 (high risk area). The number of High risk counties decreased from 32 to 25. It appears from my local review of this data, rural hospitals that serve multiple counties may be over counted as the same number of cases are applied to all counties served by the hospital. This is shown on the CDC map detail as several counties in an area with identical number of new cases reported for each county. I have observed that the number of counties with medium and high risk has dropped in the last 4 weeks. The total number of Covid-19 hospital admissions decreased -5.7% for the week.

In early August, the number of reported active cases had dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021. As of September 4, active cases were above 1,000,000. January 17, 2024 active cases rose to 1,167,209. Daily active case counts are now consistently below 1,100,000.

There have now been 111 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 33% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.

New York has been in the top 5 states for 466 of the last 511 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 250 of the last 269 days. Puerto Rico has been in the top 5 states for 72 of the last 79 days.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00595 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.00346. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 48 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last couple weeks. There have been 474 of last 758 days with decreasing active case numbers.

Daily active case counts are now consistently above 1,100,000.

There have now been 111 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 33% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.

Since May 14, 2023, many states and territories have not reported results. However, I still have been receiving reports from other states through Worldometer. I will be continuing daily reports as long as the information is relevant.

State growth rates for February 29, 2024. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.228) with 26,148 cases, Wyoming (0.209) with 195,791 cases, New York (0.078) with 7,559,454 cases, North Dakota (0.070) with 308,561 cases, and Delaware (0.031) with 349,869 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 43 of the last 43 days. Wyoming has been in the top 5 states for 40 of the last 45 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 467 of the last 512 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 251 of the last 270 days. Delaware has been in the top 5 states for 191 of the last 261 days.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00427 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.00595. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 49 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last couple weeks. There have been 475 of last 759 days with decreasing active case numbers.
