Yesterday I emptied a cardboard bankers' box I had in the garage to hold Volvo owners manuals. My wife wanted the box, so I decided it was time to go through the box and the several other manuals that wouldn't fit into the box as it was over full!
This is what I found:
Hence you see the confession!!
I hate to see stuff like this get crushed along with the car at the junkyards as I'm sure there are many with older cars that may not have these and may want a hard copy to keep in the car.
What I found surprised even me.
P80 - 94-00 years and multiple copied except for 1996. No 1993 unfortunately!
P2 - XC70 03,04,06 and 05 S60/S60R
Gen 1 S80 - 04
940 - 93 and it is in French!
Gen 1 S40 - 01
740 - 1990
960 - 1995
Many have a dealer supplied suede type cover and some have the original service books in them. I would not consider many of the covers or books are in immaculate condition, but mostly 20-35 year old documents some with more wear than others but all complete.
I even have one that is from Bobby Rahal (?) dealership in the US, for a 99 S/V70 and even has the original window sticker and receipt for the car it was from!!
This brings me to my question. I was always told the Canadian market and US owners manuals were mostly the same, but that the only real difference was the pictures and descriptions of the warning lights in the speedometer binnacle. Looking at the US 99 S/V70 and the Canadian equivalent they look the same. The speedo has the MPH and inner KPH reading ( we only have kph in Canada to stop naughty Canadians selling their 'cheaper' cars in the US). All the diagrams for the MCC and ECC units have the temperatures shown in F as do the dash LCD temp readout. So does anyone know if the books for P80's are different? Maybe the 850's are?
Now I just have to find something to do with all of these!
Neil
