Vehicle purchased from Superior Volvo dealership 9/2018 with 78,164 mi. Daily driver for work commuting in the region. Front-end damage as result of MVA 8/2019. At time of MVA the vehicle was able to be driven, started, etc. Since MVA vehicle has sat in private drive. Interior is in Good+ condition. The battery is dead and inaccessible due to hood damage.

That's absolutely worth saving, P3 R designs are RARE.

But it is a P3...............! It is not surprising they are rare in any format. I looked at one but bought a P2 instead as it is better made. Never regretted that decision.

I liked them in terms of the looks, but the load area in the wagons is smaller. The other thing is I was warned by a Volvo senior mechanic I know to stay clear of them. In his words, "They are junk!"

Is there enough change on the P3s to truly call them junk? I’ve seen enough commentary on the SPA cars to believe that—guess I’ve never heard it on the P3s. No question the P2s are the best of the breed!

The P3s were at the point that they were getting more modern, and more complicated. So naturally they're "worse" than P2s, but I wouldn't say they're junk. The late ones with the revised 5 cylinders are not great.
The 3.2s, while they're underwhelming power wise, are pretty solid engines. The T6 is much better. But good luck finding a P3 V70 with a T6! They're unicorns.
