Low beams and dash lights out 96 850t.

Am away from the car but am told low beams, dash lights out, high beams work if stalk held in high beam position. Haven't asked anyone to jiggle key in the switch or play with ignition and key. Does this sound like an ignition switch going bad? Thanks.

Could be the headlight switch, there was a recall for some P80s. I had a '98 that did something close, swapped in a used known good one and fixed it.

Don't think the ignition key is related to this issue.

+1 on foggy's suggestion of the light switch been bad. If it was just the dash lights I would have looked at the brightness adjuster to the Right of the light switch.

I'll put a used one in, thanks. The ignition switch is oem and only about 5 years old.

My brightness adjust went out. I desoldered tge brightness switch off the tiny chipboard and everything works it's just stuck at max brightness now.

I've had that happen to me before. They are such a pain to remove as 99/100 one of the 2 retaining springs will snap off as the mounts are so flimsy. I glue them back on with JP Weld plastic. If I successfully remove one I still glue it!
