Is that UHU Hart Plastik any good? Is it a weld type glue?crasbe wrote: ↑08 Apr 2024, 16:17 Funny, now that you said "all four", I realized that the rear has these lights as well...![]()
One side is in perfect condition, but the other side was smashed to pieces

Unfortunately the inner plastic part that is supposed to hold the light has been detached from the door panel, so I might have to take the door panel off to glue it back on. This escalated quickly...

One way or another, I did a test fit (actually two test fits with another one pending) and it did fit quite well the first try but I optimized the shape and added more preload. It wasn't really snug.

And the repair piece got a sexy waist, which makes holding it in place while the glue dries a lot easier (and it looks good... which was the main reason I added it).

By the way: This is how "a small side project" starts to look like eventually

I can't give you long term experience, but the repair piece I glued on the light last night was preeeeeetty solid on there and it was just two little glue blobs (to be able to get it off again).
It contains Acetone, so if the plastic can be dissolved by Acetone, it probably will create a weld bond?

I used JB Plastic. It comes in black and beige colors. Stuck various door panels, dashboards and other plastic stuff back together with it. Not sure how easy it would be to remove, but then why would you?

Noticed something recently, sometimes when it starts it ggoes all the way to around 3k rpm before settling back to idle after a few seconds. Trying to sarch for it gives me results for cars that rev up and don'tt go back down so I'm not sure if this is an issue

Today I found some time to print the repair clips in ABS and glue them to the lights. As I am satisfied with the fitment, the model is now published on Printables: https://www.printables.com/model/837887 ... 43-9178328

Finally listed the "deer hit" S70 forsale locally. I listed it here a few weeks ago, but I'm too far away from most of you. I never thought I'd miss that car, but I've already been missing driving it, even though I've been driving the 850, which I thought I liked better.
I've Been looking at an S40, to replace it, at that the same auction house, I bought the S70 from. On one hand there are things I really am not pleased about with it, but on the other there are a few things I do like along with the better fuel mileage and use of regular gas, instead of premium. The fuel cost savings will be significant.

So, today I went by an old buddy of mine in the south of the Netherlands to pick my summer rims for my S70. A while back I decided to freshen up my run down Columba wheels and thought of powder coating them. I'll post some pics when fitted on the car
