1998 V70 T5 Manual in Chicago?

Post by FireFox31 »

My saved search on Autotrader suggests that there's a black [url=https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sal ... /711614175]1998 V70 T5 Manual at a Dodge dealer in Chicago. No pictures, no mileage listed, generic listing body text. I'll believe it when I see it. So, maybe someone here wants to go see it.

I called about it today out of curiosity and unfortunately did not speak to a competent human being on the phone and had a very frustrating conversation explaining that I just wanted to confirm that it was a manual, did they have any photos and what was the price. They did list the car for sale on the internet, after all…

He could answer none of those questions, tried to tell me that I didn’t want that car (!) because it was “too old”, and that he would call me back in 10 minutes…I did not receive a call back.

A shame when "good cars" fall into "bad hands". A used car salesperson telling someone they shouldn't buy their car is basically a divide by zero error, a flaw in the physics of the universe.

Since you say you're new-ish to Volvo, know that the 1998-1999 V70 T5 Manual is exceedingly rare. About 150 were imported to the USA each year. They're basically a simpler version of the 2004-2007 R with slightly lower performance, significantly lower price, and massive credibility to the few people who know how cool they are. Search online for more info about the "T5M" for production numbers, threads (on SwedeSpeed) about people restoring them, etc.
