740 SE Overdrive

Hi

I hope someone can help please. We have a Volvo 740 SE which seems to be having the overdrive come on more and more often and once on we cant take it off, we never use the thing and dont want it to come on especially when we dont want it on. Can anyone suggest what we can do to deal with the problem PLEASE? Our dealer has quoted

Take the wires away from the overdrive solenoid at the gearbox. This is just a guess, but I think the wires are red and blue. It would be more professional to check the overdrive relay function. If you read this forum frequently, you will find a lot of similar problems.

Hi Elvina
I suppose you mean that the overdrive light comes on more often & you cant change it back, please resolder the entire relay which holds this function, it's located behind the achtray.Disconnect the battery first though.
