Throttle body?
Throttle body?
Wow, what a morning. In traffic, my 2006xc70 stops! Wont start, chugging and coughing. Start for a second, apply pedal, rumble and stop. In the old days it felt like water in the fuel. Then, CEL. I got it started, lurching all the way home. I do not have a code reader. Friend suggests i clean the throttle body. I do have a new gasket. Does that seem like a waste of time? What would you all do?

Head to an Autozone and get those codes read. While you are there, have fuel pressure tested.

Krons- i just did, upon your recommendation. Should arrive tomorrow. Then,I have to figure out how to use it! The problem is, the car wont start… it will initiate a start… gets to about 800rpm, coughs , rattles and dies. Luckily, after about 8 attempts, it starts, but might be in limp mode. Never had this issue.

I'd check the fuel pressure. This could be many things but it does sound like a dead fuel pump (or PEM problem, or a distant third the fuel pressure sensor).
You can check the fuel pressure with even a cheap manual tire gauge, for starters. Not the best reading but if it's way down in the 20's you'll know it. Wear eye protection.

Forgotten where you are on the Islet of LANGERhans , Allan. Have code reader and fuel pressure here in the 11777 if you aren’t too far. Travel a bit crazy next week, but maybe I the weekend ?
Can I reach you on 9817?

I’ll ping you from area code 518. If it comes up Port Jefferson Correctional Facility , that’s just an IT glitch. I can only come weekends though

UPDATE: I cobbled together a pressure gauge. Measured 43PSI...good! Bought a code reader and erased all the codes...there were quite a few, I imagine many false due to the stalling, etc. I ran the car today for 15 miles...no issues as yet. Could have been water in the line, etc. Hopefully! I will put the code reader back on tonight to see if anything pops up.
