Thanks for your explanation of viscosity numbers and impact on the transmission.

When I was rebuilding the transmission, I soaked frictions in Volvo ATF. Filled the rebuilt transmission with Toyota T-IV, and it was driving smooth for a couple of days. Then the shifts begun to deteriorate. Did drain&fill with Volvo ATF - it's got better, and I added a few oz of HFM, but I regret I put T-IV in in the first place. My thought was: "It's practically a new transmission, should work fine with aftermarket ATF". No. I perhaps a perfectionist, and how it worked on T-IV was fine for most, but not for me :)

I have 2001 T5 with AW 50-50/51 with 208K miles. A rebuilt transmission was installed about 60K miles ago.
I am in process of drain and fill sequence starting about 5 drain/fill of Maxlife and then 5 drain/fill with Mobil 3309. The old fluid was Mobil 3309, but I had been slow to refresh (about 60K miles). I had been getting P1618 and P0811 codes. The first drain was dark.
The first couple drain/fills with Maxlife seemed to improve shifts, but then seemed to get worse again. Could this be from initially improved fluid condition and then higher concentration of less viscous Maxlife?
I have made 2-3 drain and fills with Mobil 3309 now. I hope to see improvement again as concentration of higher viscosity 3309 is reached.
My initial idea was to use the Maxlife fluid as a cheaper flush fluid and trhen put in the 'good stuff' Mobil 3309. I see now my plan was not great.

Update: I have aimed for 75 to 100 miles between each drain/fill.

Add HFM to 3309.

In the spirit of the thread, I will mention that I have managed to find the relevant fuel maps after perusing the Denso code. I must have added too much as I went to 12.1:1 afr. But I am overall happy. I got maximum spark advance at high load/RPM, because I was no longer too lean, so less spark retard. Cooler cylinders hopefully.
The map is "Intake Airflow Rate"(param 0x102F not shown in DHA) x RPM. I had incorrectly assumed it was Engine load x RPM and did not encompass the entire range where I wanted the enrichment.

Now, I did notice my car misfiring when using alternative fuel(CNG) at low/cruise RPM, I am hoping the likely culprit is the original Volvo stamped coils, of which I have three. It is highly likely they are the original coils, so 20 years old, if not, at least 10. I also have some brand new spark plugs I will install. But first, to order some replacement coils.

I also need to find a way to enable more logging resolution. I have found relevant Denso code and will attempt modifications to get more than 12-15hz sampling rate.

Next step is finding a microphone I can plug into the intake to listen for intake resonance pressure waves. One that will support high sampling rate and frequency response.. At best I need something to tune of 20-1000 hz which should cover a few generous frequencies and harmonics.
However without proper sampling rate(Bosch EDC can do 100hz sampling rate) I will need to tap into the crankshaft or camshaft sensors and log this data separately, not from CAN.

I towed my 2001 S80 2.9 today; the transmission quit in traffic. A VIDA scan produced the code TCM-053: Lock-Up Pressure Switch Jammed.

While I assume I need either a new or rebuilt transmission, I have a topic in the S80 forum (viewtopic.php?t=104416), and I would greatly appreciate any insights.

i ordered a max jax 2 post lift a few months ago, it got damaged in transit and never arrived, home depot raised the price $500 so i bailed. today i just found it $500 cheaper on sale at lowes and ordered before the sale ended 4/30 ( thats today at midnite).
cost $3600 at Lowes.
I just checked home depot and they want over $4K.

Almost bought a scissor lift but for $500 more I got the 2 post, no cross bars to deal with.
I already installed a new 4K psi concrete floor with rebar this past summer.

i will be fixing the leaky power steering line in the near future.

If I remember correctly, 10 foot long small section parts like this can fit from DS rear corner to PS windshield area without open doors or the sun roof.
Extra MVS points for full use of sunroof for hauling.

8 foot 2x4. Maybe a tad longer, but we do not want to scratch anything, right? ;)

I use moving blankets and top racks to move stuff as I live in fear of w/s breakage from long stuff inside.
