2006 V70R trailer wiring
2006 V70R trailer wiring
I'm adding a hitch/wiring to my very used 2006 V70R. Next to the spare tire on the passenger side I've got a box which has a flat 5 connector going into it and nothing coming out. Ideally I can tap into this to run the wiring (no brake controller needed for this purpose). My internet sleuthing game must be weak, I've been unable to come up with what this might be and don't have my circuit tester with me. Does this setup look familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance!

Is that not the PEM controller (relay) for the fuel pump? Depending on the year it is either mounted on top of the passenger (RHS) of the fuel tank or in the spare wheel well usually on the RHS near the back.
If I recall, what you are looking for is on the LHS behind the trunk area side panel. There is, if I recall a removable panel near the rear lights that you can remove and there is a panel in there.
Neil.

Yeah that's the PEM, don't mess with it.

they're pre-wired for trailers, the plug is tucked away under the plastic trim near the rear hatch catch,
I wired my own harness by jumping off the tail light wiring, when I ran the harness over to the other side I found the trailer plug, doh.
Complete waste of 2 hours soldering and heat shrinking.

Yes, that thread I linked also includes a video with the vehicle connector and very clear directions how to use it. OP can't find the connector.

You should be able to find a factory wiring harness and or hitch at the auto wreckers, these were pretty common on xc 70's and make for an easy install.
