New (to me) 07 XC70. Under passenger seat wiring connectors: under or on top of the mat..?

Post by AylmerQc »

I took out the passenger seat and mats to let them dry after finding there was a fair amount of water on the underside of them (wondering if this is common after a long Canadian winter from boot snow-melt or could it be the previous owner went overboard with rug cleaning..).
In my haste I didn't pay too much attention to how the wiring and connectors for the sound and video system were run so now I'm wondering if the connectors and cables all fit under the mats or above the mats? Do some run under the sound amplifier bracket or all on top?
Guess I should use my phone to take a few photos before taking things apart...

I would blow compressed air down the sunroof drain holes and make sure to dry everything before putting seats back.
pour a cup of water down the drains to make sure it goes all the way to the ground.
Wires wouldn't bother me.

Thanks. I've heard (actually from a conversation I had with someone) that water can seep in from around the windscreen and cause short circuits or serious error codes but never read or heard about the sunroof drains being an issue. I'll have to look into that...We've had a fair amount of rain these last few days so let me go out and check under those mats while I still have the seats out...

acorns and leaves get in the drains and the water ends up in the footwells and underneath seats.
you may need to run something like weedeater trimmer string down the drain, compressed air cleared mine.

water should drain down the A pillar, beneath the door to the ground.
