I have ordered two different timing belt kits and the belts are too short on both of them. What am I doing wrong? Is there a size or part number I'm missing?

Did you use the engine number on the timing belt cover when ordering the parts?

How do you install it? I mark the old belt location on camshaft and crankshaft sprockets in a few spots, remove old belt, transfer the marks to the new belt, fix the belt on camshaft sprockets with large binder clips, route over idler, crankshaft sprocket, tensioner, then slacken the tensioner with one hand and wiggle the belt over water pump with the other hand. It's a tight fit with no extra slack and no room for error, but it fits.Steverzbck wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 07:57 I have ordered two different timing belt kits and the belts are too short on both of them.
