9400 Code !
9400 Code !
2006 XC70 Im still trying to sort this code out. Went to my local mechanic to see if his reader is any different than mine. Both came up with 9400= Accelerator Pedal Sensor. Symptoms: When I start the car, the dash reads "Reduced Engine Performance". Shut it off...start again, dash message gone. Hook up reader- 9400. That part is expensive. FCP shows that it is included in a new pedal, not separate. Is there a way (without VIDA- no one I know has VIDA here on Long Island) to determine if I REALLY need the Pedal Sensor before spending $250?

I also get the ECM-9400 code on my NA engine, but it is the Brake Pedal Position sensor, not the Accelerator, you sure you read it correctly?. Mine started when I had initially removed the brake sensor in the driver side pedal area, due to a burst heater core matrix. Since then, the code would often trip and I lose Cruise Control. Yet the sensor online is the one on the brake booster outside?

Check fuses and wiring before spending on the sensor. They almost never go bad.

Make and break the connector on the pedal sensor first, fancy words for remove and replace. You are trying to clean all the electrical pins inside the connector.
You can also order it from FCP and carefully open the box with a razor to test a new part. FCP will take back electrical stuff unlike most. Maybe confirm with them first, too.
