The VIDA installation process is smooth, but when I tried to start VIDA, the Vida monitor was stuck in the red square status. The log looks like:
4/26/2024 9:10:04 PM : Log started
4/26/2024 9:10:04 PM : Reading configuration file system\config\VidaMonitor.conf.xml
4/26/2024 9:10:04 PM : Debug set to false

4/26/2024 9:10:04 PM : SQL server started
4/26/2024 9:10:04 PM : Trying to open a connection database server (Master DB)
4/26/2024 9:10:20 PM : Could not open a connection...error message:
ERROR [08001] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
ERROR [01000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).

I double confirmed the sql server is running well, and I can connect to it by UDL or SQL server management Studio. Also configured firewall to allow sqlservr.exe and several ports (1433, 1434, 4022, 135). But neither helps.
I checked vidamonitor.conf.xml, the sql server config looks like:
<SQLServer>
<Load></Load>
<ProcessName>SqlServer</ProcessName>
<ProgramFileName></ProgramFileName>
<Port>51433</Port>
<PreDelay></PreDelay>
<PostDelay></PostDelay>
</SQLServer>
The port 51433 seems weird. I changed it to 1433 but doesn't help.
Could someone share your vidamonitor.conf.xml to see whether it is the same as my config? Or any other possible issue?
Help! VidaMonitor could not open an connection

Problem resolved. The root cause is very simple but painful: VIDA can't connect to 64-bit SQL Server. When I reinstalled a 32-bit version SQL server, it connected immediately. Dynamic ports work, no firewall rule is needed. It seems 64-bit SQL server works well for many other people, not sure why it doesn't work for me.

might have more to do with the dice chip set or the laptop ports.bigapple331 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 23:53 Problem resolved.
