Volvo 1999 V70 XC With New Transmission

Post by Jriddels »

Volvo 1999 V70 XC With New Transmission.
The entire car is in good condition with a large pile of records.
The engine has no compression on cylinder 2.
210Kmiles

Hood latch cable needs replacing.
Small dent in side.
little hole in clear coat on the roof.
Normal paint chips on front end for old car.

I am looking to get this car to someone who can use it.

Also has new PCV, recent timing, water pump, etc. and many more parts as you might expect.

Pretty presentable for its age, sad about the compression issue. If it's just dead, and not belching smoke, losing coolant or some such, then a burned/broken valve is a likely candidate. Pretty time consuming, and can be costly to pay a shop for the work.
A suggestion would be to post in the Classified section as well, and ipd has a for sale forum, although I no longer remember if you have to have made a recent purchase to use it.
Best wishes, hope the little jewel finds a good home.

Hummm... $2000 might be a little out of my budget. I am waiting for two other estimates on the engine swap. I am hoping it can be done as a unit since my engine and transmission have only 95,000 original miles - but it's sounding like $1500 - $2000 for the swap. My by back was $625 . So a potential total of $4625. I don't know if that is a sound investment. I might need to go back to the idea of her being a recreational vehicle...

The original ad didn't mention an asking price; $2000 for a '99 XC might be market money for a running car with that mileage, but might be a bit much for one needing engine work. The worksheet above by TRNorton shows why.

I hadn't really considered selling her, however the thought of her vitals living on in another loved V70 is perhaps an option I would consider.
There is the value of the engine 95,000 miles - oil change done literally a week before the accident, 120,000 service has already been done (timing belt , etc.) - the photo is pre accident so she is a little dustier now.
Her leather is also spectacular - though I know yours is tan not black...
All four tires (AND the spare!) were recently replaced - and I bought some top shelf Michelin

My buy back was actually $641.16 -- so I would like to recoup that cost.
The tires were $1122.68 so maybe half that - $561.34
Say another $97.50 for the interior

Does $1300 seem like a fair price?
