Hey Guys, I need some sanity here.
2005 v50 T5
Just bought it (from a friend, sight unseen, even worse) and driving home I noticed poor breaking.
Stomping on it, it pulled to the left.
No warning lamps, pedal feels normal.
Pads and rotors are fine.
With 20 psi on a motive bleeder, neither front caliper bleeds freely. The rear calipers bleed normally.
The front left will bleed a little by engaging the pedal. The Right front was dry, and pads loose.
I assumed either MC or ABS brain faulty.
I took to an indy, they concluded: "The abs pump/valve body has a blockage on the right front supply line" and recommended replacing abs unit, along with every other component of the brake system BTW, for 6500.00.
I said pass.
I pulled the abs and sent to Xemodex.
They said that both module and block were bad. Replaced block and serviced module.
I put it back on car tonight:
both rear calipers bleed freely, both front calipers do not.
Each front caliper will now burp if you work the pedal, but that is it.
My question is: what is normal?
I have not run the car or even put the battery back on yet.
Does the abs module regulate flow to the calipers?
Does it need to be on and running?
What is my move?
Thank you
Dave

Back the bleeder completely out. If that doesn't work then remove the line from the caliper and see if the line will bleed.

Many, many thanks for the reply.
Same situation if bleed screw out on the two front calipers. Actually I had replaced the soft lines and calipers with new in my initial trouble shoot.
The car did sit for extended periods prior to sale.
What I’m gleaning is the front hard lines are likely full of crap?
I feel like ABS is now “known good”, can I make assumption the MC is ok if I get normal bleed in the rears?
And then, tell the rookie: all four calipers should bleed freely in a normal system right? This is not a function governed by some valve in the abs.
Dave.

All four should bleed.
Disconnect the lines from the caliper and press on the pedal and see if fluid comes out while the caliper is not connected.

Yes. Some Fluid comes out of both front hard lines at wheel well with each pedal action.
I basically looked at every thing today.
Free flow bleeding from upper hardline feed to the caliper bleed screws.
Free flow bleeding from MC to abs block in both supply lines.
Flow out of abs to RF and LF hard line is minimal (20 psi equals slow ooze).
My sane self would trouble shoot the abs valves are not open?
But just replaced by Xemodex.
I did get some weird gray boogers out of the MC drain. Flushed MC clean from every orifice with brake cleaner and air. But I had tried normal bleeding first on the new ABS. Is it possible I plugged it up again?!
Air in system?

I will complete the thread for other that come later.
Issue resolved, by combination of power bleeding and aggressive brake pedal action.
My best guess is that there was air in the abs block that was difficult to bleed out .
