ECU EFIE for 79 242? 86/89 740 non turbos?

I recently purchased an HHO kit to install on one of my volvos for starters. I have a 79 242 2.1 liter, 86 740, 89 740. All are non-turbos.

The manufacturer of the cell says since my cars are pre 95 that I won't need any modifications to ECU with an EFIE. I don't believe this.

Does my 79 have an ECU? An oxygen sensor(s)? I believe the 86 and 89 have these.

If one wants to take a peek at my installing diagram I will pass it on.

The electrical stuff I'm illiterate at, the mechanical I manage.

Next question is how many oxygen sensors on each of the above cars?
