I have seen several screen shots of under the P2 when it is up on ramps but still not sure of the exact ATF drain plug
location. Do I need to remove some so called engine cover that some people have written about?
I don't see that either.

Please confirm what engine and transmission you have and that you want to drain the transmission fluid. We do not want to get this information wrong.
Do you also need to know where the transmission dip stick is located?

2.4L/Non-Turbo/Automatic transmission.
I plan to drain the ATF of about 3-4 quarts and then re-fill at the top dipstick.
I do know where the top dipstick is (short-yellow) and i have the skinny funnel or re-filling.
Just need to verify the exact location of the ATF plug. I also already have the 18mm drain-plug washer that is the same one as used for the oil drain plug.

This should help. Your splash guard / under engine cover may be missing?

Yes, drivers side front tire.
I have drained and refilled several times recently. 5 inch ramps work great. I have used a fill tube with valve and cup on top with measurements. This lets you slip the tube end in the fill tube, close the valve, fill the cup as needed, and then open the valve. It has a cap for the bottom of the tube and for the top of the cup. I tried to find a photo of this, but could not.

Once you do the drain, look at the plug, it's magnetic and sometimes it has this black goo which is essentially the sludge from the wear. Clean it as well.
Always use JWS3309 fluid or best Volvo fluid.

My recent experience with 2001 V70 T5 with 5 speed auto:
Drain amount measured as 112 to 118 OZ - more drained when oil hot. Say 3.5 QT if you don't spill.
My calculation shows 4 drain/refill gives fresh oil at about 90%. I did more cycles.

.
There will be those who say a flush will dislodge debris and gunk so affecting the transmission. The fluid flow and pressure is that of normal idle so it will not. The second video shows emptying till there are bubbles and quickly shutting off the engine. That's how I been doing it and have never had a problem on at least a dozen cars. If you have an assistant removing almost all the fluid will be much easier as per first video.
On my 03 S80 T6 I remember removing the lower hose and allowing the radiator to drain itself of trans-fluid. The clear hose is inserted over the two yellow O-Ring hose so there are no chances of any leaks. I suppose if you are careful you can reuse the O-Rings but I replaced mine including the green clips both upper and lower since I'm already in the system.
