1989 740 rear brakes squeeling
I recently purchased an 89 740 with 170k. The rear brakes squeel when used. If the pedal is tapped just right the noise won't generate or go away. I thought since they're new the sound would go away after wearing in. It's gotten a little better but after 3k since purchased I'm wondering. Would it be the easy remedy, to put shims, retainer springs or more, lightly sand the rotors to take off the supposed glazing?

Have you tried coating the backs of the pads with a copper based grease? I have done this on every car I have owned and have not had brake squeal since the early 1960s.

The brakes were replaced by the previous owner before I bought it.
I will slop some grease on em.
This is the first Volvo in my 20 years of owning em that I had this squeal.
Thanks Bill
