It is a Mitsubishi, and it was rare even when it was common... 
I could confidently say I haven't seen one on the street in over two decades. I really miss seeing 80s-90s cars. Sometimes I'll look around while driving and not even see a 2000s car.

In the UK they were called a Mitsubishi Starion. They were rare there but not unheard of, although I'm sure rust will have eaten most.

I had never heard of these until I spotted this photo of a slightly hot-rodded Graham Hollywood. I never would have guessed it.
It was based on the Cord 810, a very expensive to build V8 with FWD. After a series of complicated steps, it was modified to RWD and built by Hupmobile, then Graham, none of which survived the Depression.
It was a stylish, stiff, light unibody with a supercharger.

Looks decidedly like a Triumph Roadster (I think they had an 1800 and 2000) from the late 40's into the 1950's. What was throwing me is the gizmo on the top of the radiator shell. That looks like an add on radiator temp visual from like the 20/30's.
