XC70 Ocean Race Edition

Alright. I've searched, and read many conflicting posts and "opinions" - were there any other color than Ocean Race blue for the 2006 XC70 ORE?

There is one for sale in my area (Portland) that states it is a ORE. I definitely have my doubts!

It's is not blue, and has no ORE badging.

Thoughts?

I thought they were all blue. I thought that was the point of them, it was a look.

I believe I saw an XC90 that claimed to be an Ocean Race edition, and it was silver and had all the badging. I did some research and found it was an option on the XC90, don't know about the XC70.

There are LOTS of dealer listing claiming to be selling ORE and they are not. There is one within distance of me right now in Tacoma, I was looking at it just yesterday thinking of checking it out (it WAS blue/tan), then realized it was not an ORE.

I do not know if it’s intentionally misleading, or if maybe there is a software glitch in sales software that if the VIN is inserted, that comes up (possible explanation). If it’s a real ORE, it has a unique blue, unique seats w/contrast stitching, ORE badges on the side and serial number on the dash.

Given how often this comes up, I believe it’s a software error. I ran into a similar thing several years ago while rebuilding a GM 4L30E transmission. I ordered a torque converter using year/make/model, and got the wrong one. Sent it back (shipping heavy torque converters across country is not cheap), and they sent me the wrong one again. Now that they are out the whole cost of the item just in shipping, we look into it. Turns out the most commonly used national parts database (not unique to them) has errors in it wrt this transmission. Lots of vendors making the same mistake. I suspect that’s the issue with all the wrong ORE listings for the 2006 XC70.

I see this same phenomenon but with 850 Platinums... sellers will post a white 850 and call it Platinum. They're not trying to deceive anyone, they just don't know. I know this because the comment section will explain it and they typically say "I didn't know, thank you," etc.

I saw that with a white 96 and explained to the owner it was not a platinum. He decided to argue it was because someone told it was........!
