Can you recommend an LED low beam bulb?

Post by AlanS »

I had a set of low beam LED's in my 2006 XC70....they wore out...they also caused a message on my dash. Can anyone suggest a brand/ model of LED bulbs that are bright, effective and will not cause a dash warning? I did enjoy the bright light that they offered me (when they worked!)....I have tried every 'high end' halogen bulb, but they don't cut it. So...what LED bulb do I get?

First make sure your reflectors are still good and clean. If for some reason the interior is dirty, remove the assembly and use only warm mild soap and water to slosh around before rinsing with water. Never use alcohol, AP cleaner, vinegar or anything that is a heavy cleaner greaser. Use a hair dryer, leaf blower or compressed air to dry.

Decide on a budget and search Amazon for an H7 with high number of purchases and read the latest 1 star reviews. Look for any failure trends or poor customer support and if all is good you can give it a try as you have 30 days to return if the light output is poor or it fails within the return period.

All the LED's are hit and miss unless you spend a lot of money on a name brand LED with a lifetime warranty which will be very expensive. The high price will cover enough potential failures for a long time. I have found most LED's I've purchased lasted anywhere from 1.5 to 4 years. There are so many LEDS there's just no way to keep track of the number of brands and models.
.
Blessings,

From the list below here is one of the best bulbs for the best price:
Here is how to use this list to find the brightest bulbs.

First determine what type of headlamp you are installing the Bulb. It is either a Projector or a Reflector - and most likely a reflector.

If it is a Reflector than the columns V-W-X-Y are specific to that type of headlamp housing.

The Key column is X for Reflectors and T for Projectors. The higher that number the brighter will the bulb be.

The challenge will be to find some of these Bulbs on the market - as manufacturer seem to discontinue their Bulbs every other year. They do this because they keep improving them - or I should say they attempt to improve them - also they follow the trend. Right now the trend are Bulbs without any cables - where you plug-in directly at the bulb base just like a Halogen Bulb - HOWEVER this feature interfere with the cooling ability of the bulb. And the cooler the Bulb the brighter the light output so cooling is important. For this reason the brightest bulbs are usually those that still use a cable between the Bulb and the connector.
