Decode a PIN with VDASH—subscription required?

Post by leapdragon »

Hello anyone that has used VDASH,

I keep finding tutorial information that says all you have to do in VDASH to decode your PIN on a P2 car is click the "DECODE PIN" button.

But even after I connect to the car, I don't have that button. Instead, where everyone says that button should be, I have red text that says something like "PIN has not yet been decoded," but not button.

How do I get that button? Do I need to subscribe? At what level?

Any pointers would be helpful. I can't help but think they're missing out on sales by offering no Q&A unless you pay—but you can't figure out how much to pay or whether you should pay without some Q&A.

with Vdash I would also try searching for a board that specializes in its use, maybe they have a facebook group.?

So, VDASH author got back to me. Apparently it can't be done by a DiCE unit (any longer?!), you must buy his 200 euro bluetooth OBDII unit to do it. In the end, I used a VIDA 2015 subscription to perform the task I wanted to perform, but did find VDASH to be useful for renumbering my clone DiCE unit to be compatible with VIDA 2015.

I suspect VDASH folks "learned" how to crack the pin in P2 after following that topic =)

The hardware to crack the pin over OBDII by yourself would cost you ~$40. Or $2, if you are able to take the CEM out, split it and solder like 5 wires.
