Speedometer sometimes reads half speed

I think I might have tried the solder fix a decade ago because there's some white silicone around the seam.

Is there anything else to try?

Is it worth redoing the solder solution?

And my abs by design I was going to try the plastic wedge for that.

See what happens with the wedge test and if it improves the situation. The speed is taken from the ABS sensors so if the ABS module/controller is failing this may be the issue.

Did the wedge test documented in this post and I still have the ABS light. I'll report on here if I get the speedometer issue again

Any other ideas appreciated.

It is not a 100% foolproof fix. Also it assumes it is not a faulty ABS sensor or reluctor ring that the sensor uses on the axles.

There are resistance values for the ABS sensors so worth checking those out. I think Mid-West ABS has a trouble shooting section on what the values should be.

Fwiw, did the wedge abs "fix". The speedo didn't drop out in 1500 miles where as before it was intermittent every 40? Miles.

....still have the ABS light though :-/

Like I said it is not a 100% fix. It at least proves the ABS module has issues, but still suggest you need to confirm the sensors are working within their parameters.
