Exhaust Rumble
What's up everybody. Just had a section of exhaust on my 89 240 replaced at a local shop. Went from the cat back to the muffler. Now when I start the car there is a thump underneath the floorboard and some rumblings at lower speeds. Got underneath and checked it out and there is about a half inch rub/mark on the heat shield right above the exhaust near the drive shaft support. Looked at the front exhaust hangers and they definitely need to be replaced, but in doing so, would that draw the exhaust closer to the floorboard further exacerbating that thump/rumble? Or would it do the opposite and possibly solve the issue?

This turned out to be a case of a bad exhaust job from the local shop. Got it done while visiting my folks 300 miles away, so it wasn't as simple as taking it back. Got it up on a lift to get a better look and while, yes, there wasn't much room between the new section of exhaust and the floorboard, what ultimately seemed to be the issue was the fact that the new pipe wasn't bent properly and caused everything behind it to sit even higher. The section of pipe between the two mufflers was actually hitting/resting against the rear axle. So while driving the rumblings/vibrations were coming from there. Replaced the hangers because they needed to be, but also bent the exhaust to correct that issue.
