My car had 111k miles. It has been no problem til now. It feels like it is misfiring both idling and under load. I'm looking at air filter, fuel rail pressure sensor etc. The car has thrown no codes. So far I've changed plugs but it hasn't changed the problem. The fuel filter is offered for sale online but all indications are it's a non- serviceable item. I've ordered the fuel rail regulator and a new air filter. These could be the problem but I would expect a CEL if there's a problem with the fuel system. The problem was at its worse when going up a steep hill at which time it was bogging down to almost stalling. I probably would have gotten a CEL then had I persisted but I pulled off to avoid being hit by other cars coming from behind. Any ideas?

Could be coil packs as well. You could pull one at a time and see if it sounds worse or no change. The no-change one is suspect, but it may be time to change them all.
