oil consumption that low wouldn't bother me, i lose more.

I agree. Though I do want to stop oil from collecting on the engine mount rubber parts.

I think the oil filler cap fits part but not all of the problem. Now the lower right engine mount looks dry, but the bottom of the transverse subframe beam behind the oil pan is still wet.

Just checked the dipstick, looks like its dry around the dipstick o-ring, and the front of the oil pan is dry, only the rear is wet.

The back of the the VVT hub looks dry, which I've replaced with cam seals recently. Do they look fine in the photos? Not sure what the best angle is.

Haven't checked the crank seals but I think they were replaced along with the oil pump replacement done by a shop.

Also I've checked the color and it does not look like power steering fluid.



Is there something else?

I've found two possibilities online, hopefully someone here has some experience

1. The piston cooling valve: located between the oil pump and the water pump, the one labeled "2" in the picture:

I did remember the lower part of the inner timing belt over (the black one that does "not" need to come off in any timing belt replacement)

Not sure what the part number is though. Couldn't find it in the "lubrication system" in VIDA, but in the "cylinder block" section there's a part called "valve", 30650890, that looks like the only possible one.

2. The turbo feed line

There seems to be a mating surface at the block.



The oil leak is small (1qt or so every 3000 miles) so I can live with that (which I did for the past 4 years), but still would like to fix it if possible, as it might obscure future oil leak. Hopefully someone can chime in.

The cams look dry.

I would check the power steering fluid level.

Just checked the power steering fluid with a cold engine (not driven for an entire day).

The level is almost at the bottom of the dipstick (the cap). Does look low, but I can't remember what level I filled to last time, maybe 5000 miles ago. I think anywhere between the "cold full" and the bottom of the dipstick is ok when cold? So there may or may not be a leak, but if there is it's probably slow, since I've never checked the fluid for at least 5000 miles.

No power steering leak found at the pump or the reservoir, and hoses attached to those. I do see one of the metal lines, the one eventually connected to the top of the reservoir, wet:

Though not sure what fluid those are and where they came from.

i would inspect the turbo drain, otherwise clean the steering rack and watch for leaks.
