1997 Volvo 850 T-5 Accessory Electrical Issue

Post by ripzilla »

Having a tough time trying to figure out what’s causing this issue, with the key out of the ignition the window switch, wipers, 12v outlet, radio and climate control stay on and kill the battery. I have searched endlessly for people having the same or similar issue and the main 2 problems are ignition switch or 105 relay. Both of these solutions did not work, replaced the ignition switch and even tested both the old and new ignition switch connections with a multimeter. I replaced all 3 105 106 and 107 relays and still nothing. If anyone has some suggestions that would be great, is there a way to test if the car is actually in the OFF position (other than testing the ignition switch)? Any recommendations or information you have/need to help would be much appreciated. Been at this for probably 12 hours with no progress.

When you actually remove/disconnect electrical portion of ignition switch...does the consumers still stay ON?

Yes, the only time I could get them to turn off is taking out the 105 relay.

Time to remove fuse box and take a look under relay socket.
Something is shorted under there.
