Update, mostly good but could have done better. I got it all back together and have driven over 500 miles since with no real shifting issues and no more arrow. There is an occasional delayed/sluggish shift in 1st to 2nd but I don't think the average driver would pick it up if not tuned in, it's pretty minor. I ended up removing the bolts from the RH engine mount and that let me drop the subframe just enough to work with, so all in all, the original issue is fixed, but it appears I way over torqued my bolts. Reading the comments back, I see Jmartin was using a duraprene gasket, while I used cork. So as of course it would be, I had a thunderstorm looming but hold off the entire second cover install attempt, right until I physically got the cover in place and started threading all the bolts in loosely, then came a down pour and concerning levels of lightning nearby. I was once again rushing, and set my wrench to 15lb first, and I THINK 17.5ft lbs for the final tighten( although I honestly might have stuck with 15 and just gone around again and made sure everything clicked) planning to go back and tighten again in the morning if need be. Well when I checked in the morning, I realized I had tightened the bolts so tight I ripped and pushed the cork out around the bolts, causing a slight single drop leak from the bottom most bolt location. It wasn't much, a drop that gathered on the temp sensor every time I drove long enough to get up to temp, but not enough to drip and make a stain when parked. I checked with a normal wrench and the bolt was actually loose again, so I retightened to snug and that stopped the leak for about 150 miles. It has now returned, I took a trip over the weekend, about another 150 miles each way, mix of highway and city driving, and when I arrived at my destination on the first leg of the trip I noticed the single drip was back. Upon checking it again after finishing the second leg and returning home, it had a slight stain on the ground, and seems to have worked its way through the torn gasket with more gusto. Honestly, my plan is now to go the lazy route and slather the bottom outer edge of the cover to trans with sealant tomorrow, I figure once it's cold and been wiped down, It'll probably hold off leaking long enough to get the sealant to setup, and hopefully I can put this solenoid issue behind me. I'll also check all the bolts before I seal just to make sure they aren't loose.
Learning through one broken part at a time.
