Let us know how your car repair goes of course
LOL, thanks!

In fairness, I just realized I left someone out, which might be helpful to someone in the Washington (state) area:

ClusterFix, West Richland, WA, USA https://clusterfix.net/store/
Cost: $239
Warranty: 1 year
Additional Warranty: 1 year extended warranty: $29.95, 3 year extended warranty $49.95
Prepaid shipping: no - only return shipping. They will provide a box for shipping for $16.75 if needed
LED lighting upgrade available: Not sure
New/Remanufactured DIM available: Not sure
Repair Turnaround Time: 1-3 days (excluding transit time for shipping)

The website is very well done, however due to the fact that this appears to be a guy working out of his house, and only offered a 1 year warranty, those two items were deal breakers for me.

Thanks, and if you're read this far, good luck!

I'll post back if I have any issues or on the anniversary of my repair, whichever comes first. :-)

Thanks, Abscate.

Still working without issue! Finally got around to getting VIDA installed and a DiCE module from eBay so that I could clear the SRS Airbag warning on the DIM today, because it won't pass inspection like that...and inspection is due next month.

Hey jonboy... I'm actually responding to what super Herman posted. How did he come to the conclusion is was a shunt in the central electronic module? Was it a self diagnosis or one from a shop?.. hmm. I've seen someone pull a cem from an XC90 .. didn't look like a party ..

Hi MDK - honestly I have no idea. Hopefully Herman is watching this thread and will reply.

Well, in case anyone is interested, it's been 2 years and nine months, or roughly 31,000 miles since I replaced the DIM.

Everything in the DIM still seems to work great.

Hope this is helpful.

..and the price has long since been forgotten.

Xmodex seems to really be the quality guys here for this stuff. Rereading the thread, I wasn’t aware they were ISO, and that does tell you the operation is serious

Well, I’ve made it 5.5 years and 57,510 miles since making this repair, with no issues for the DIM.

I’m about to send XeMODeX my ECM for a DTC-711A - “Engine Control Module Internal Fault”.

We THINK that fault (which has been there for as long as I can remember) has gotten worse with heat and is sending a bad signal to the transmission, saying it is running at 6k RPM when it here is no chance it is going that fast. (Service transmission message came up on the DIM at cruising speed - 65 MPH on the interstate with engine running at something like 2,300 RPM….but it was HOT outside…and we think temp has something to do with this, because it happened to the tech as well).

Anyway, I figured anyone else wondering if XeMODeX was worth the $$….I’m about to plunk down another $400 with them.

All the best,

Jonboy
