New Sachs Shocks - my 2 cents.

Post by dikidera »

Today I fitted brand new Sachs white sticker shocks to replace the original ones that were an orange sticker. While doing so I also installed brand new Volvo genuine bushing on both control arms, so basically a major suspension overhaul.

My original ones were dead. The driver side was sliding in its body by itself, it wouldn't stay up. The left passenger one could easily be pushed with very little effort and would stay there without going back up.

So far, on my S60 2005 facelift, the front end is more stable, planted, but somehow it rides a bit harsher in my opinion. Mind you they are still only on about 5 miles so they haven't been broken in. I seem to have some really tall front springs that took everything from my spring compressor, a real bomb even. Not sure how they affect

So I will observe if the ride quality improves or not.

While on the topic, I have the BIFUEL variant of my S60 which means there is a CNG tank installed on the rear underside of the car, as such I also noticed I have nivomats over there, but I believe they may have failed as the rear is swaying more and is crashing, even more noticeable now with the front end being firm and the rear being...loose.
Nivomats are hell of expensive new, so what are my options there? Again, noting that the rear has a 100kg tank weighing the rear of the car down.
