I washed the T5 over the weekend but missed a few spots where the dirt of sitting around has toughened up and requires more than soap and a sponge. My partner wants me to get rid of it, but I still have plans to replace the rack, mounts and front suspension — right after I clear out enough space in the garage. ... Anyone want to buy a green 1998 T5 automatic with 200k miles and some work needed?

Last week, Blue Steel's defogger switch started turning on and off, as if it were possessed, but it only lasted a day and now seems fine. Must have been an itinerant poltergeist.

Good candidate to buy and sell for Beryls Volvos at Niagara. I’m trying to get a Foundation setup for tax deductible donations but haven’t been home for three weeks for work.

Thursday I brought it to Firestone to get it's last 'free' (lifetime) alignment and safety inspection.
Friday changed the oil at 269,500 miles
Saturday cleaned it out and handed over the keys to the new owner (friend of a friend)
Sunday got the photos below - (nobody was hurt!)
Today I'm mailing the title to a junkyard in PA so they can scrap it

Wow. I'm glad they're OK, but what were they doing to total it so quickly?

Wow, that sucks... glad they were okay! If I had to guess, slick road and poor visibility probably had something to do with it.

Pulled out the battery tester today. I had thought the T5 had a bad alternator because the battery would run down after short trips, but it turns out it's from 2008 and isn't as young as it seemed.

Briefly looked at a 240 for the first time ever....Wow does the driver's door close solidly! Even more so than the Mercedes' I've looked at.

I also saw the most creepy gross 850 Turbo that Ive ever seen. All the seams had been taped, which made me think "bio-hazard", but this went beyond that. Even seems on the windshield and sunroof were taped. Also, there was something like paper towel stuffed all around the headliner and other gaps.... made me think paranoid meth head or something. It was from Washington state, and did have some moss growing on it in places on the outside. The driver's side door had been opened by a tow company, so I very gingerly reached inside, and popped the hood, which wasn't taped up. It was a bit dirty, but otherwise normal. The interior was a bit moldy, but just enough to add to the creepiness of the horror show the entire car was. I didn't see anything that would lead me to believe it was a death car. I should have taken some pictures, but for some reason didn't think of it. I guess I was just shocked, as I kept shaking my head thinking "why???". "what happened to this 850 turbo???"

A battery from 2008? Are you done with that?
