Ordered a URO splash shield for my 850 on ebay. I found one for about $25 with free shipping. I'm not sure how they'll make any money with that low a price. We'll see what arrives. The last time I tried ordering one, it came in with attachment points broken. I think that was through Amazon.

That’s really cheap. I’ll fix the attach points at that price454cid wrote: ↑12 Oct 2024, 22:04 Ordered a URO splash shield for my 850 on ebay. I found one for about $25 with free shipping. I drove home from EWR and on the way , picked up parts from Canada, and met a Bonny wee lad from these pages!

Just back from a week in NYC. Marvelous place where life seems to run 24/7 at a hugely fast place! Constant noise, sirens blaring and great people on Manhattan. Initially somewhat inward focused, once engaged were hugely friendly. A place to visit again!
Whilst there I bumped into that legendary individual we all know as Abscate. Visit was brief unfortunately due to lack of parking in the area.
Great to meet him finally (and get rid of that box of parts that have taken residence in my garage for a year awaiting collection!
Hopefully we may get a chance to at least get a coffee if he does eventually make it up here as threatened!
They say never meet you heroes as it is usually a disappointment. This is definitely was the exception to the rule!

Aw, that’s great! Abscate and I haven’t taken a selfie together yet. How is that possible?
Today while cleaning out the garage, I noticed a bulging sidewall on the right front tire, which had been exhibiting a slow leak for months. So I finished mounting the new Goodyear tire I bought on sale a while back (thanks MVS!), balanced it and swapped it out.

It arrived undamaged, minutes ago! Now, I have to get hardware. The shield was already missing when I bought it.abscate wrote: ↑13 Oct 2024, 03:14That’s really cheap. Not my car (thankfully?)
I might put more detail but my friend, the guy who came along and gave me a ride when I purchased my 850 T-5, was bitten by the Volvo bug on that day, and brought home a P2 S60 R. Looking into the engine bay felt a litle uncanny valley.
Well, he got halfway home when he called me for help. He was losing coolant alarmingly quick, and the hood cable snapped on him.
I'm fairly sure this is sludge.
Shockingly the engine passed the glove test, no pressure on the reservior opening. No smoke.
Oil cooler cracked? I feel cautiously sure that it isn't the head gasket because of the above.
Anyways, I've never dealt with sludge before, what would be the proper way to clean everything?

Pressure test the cooling system and do a leak down test. Could be something simple and easy like an oil cooler, but the Rs are known for cracking blocks. Well, cylinder liners more specifically.
