Door mirror - Is there a re-calibration process? - 02 XC70

The on going challenges of this car. The previous owner fitted an aftermarket passenger (RHS) rear view door mirror.

When you turn the ignition on the mirror takes on a life of it's own. It will randomly position itself anywhere but where you set it.

Is there a programming or re-calibration process possibly needed for this or is it a duff unit?

Does your car have a "memory" driver's seat with the "1, 2, 3" buttons? If so, this is likely the same "memory" system trying to adjust the mirrors, and getting confused. Adjust them where you want them, adjust the seat, press and hold "mem", and then press "1", "2", or "3" for a few seconds to both pair those setting with the use of that keyfob, and to allow those seat settings to be achieved again when pressing the "1", "2", or "3" memory buttons on the seat.

When I see the car again (maybe this week) I will give that a try for sure. The dealer did say there is no process for that, but if this works that would be great. Not sure if the car has the memory seats or not but will let you know how it goes. I have a spare RH mirror to try if not.

in my 01 to SET memory you hold MEM and press the number to set it to. then the number itself to load those settings, in case holding doesnt work and you have a mem button
