Hard hesitation under heavy load

Post by nthnnxn »

Hello Gents,

It's been a while since I have needed to be on here as I have been Volvo-less for a few years... Thank the Volvo Gods for ending that period of my life!!! Picked up a beautiful
06' V70 R with only 75k. Its been upgraded with 3rd stage IPD stuff including bigger Turbo, hose/piping, intercooler, exhaust...
So I'm driving down the freeway and wanted to see what she has by punching the accelerator and it hesitated, like full on power cut. Lasted maybe a half a second once my foot let off a bit and returned to driving with normal power. I tried it again once more, and same result with the hard hesitation.
I would just like to note that the 100 mile trip back home after purchase was wonderfully smooth (with trans) and very powerful (with engine) it's just that it didn't like being hammered to the floor😉
Without the car throwing a code yet, I would just love to hear from you experts where I should start Troubleshooting... Fuel system, coil/spark plug, specific sensors...something else?

Thanks in advance
Nathan

it happened to me too,
it was the turbo to charge air pipe (the over the top of the engine pipe) coupler hose.
pull the the pipe and see if it is loose.

when you stomp on the gas it blows the pipe off, releasing the pedal causes the pipe to get sucked back into position.

Jonesg,

Thank you for the reply! However, I'm just not that lucky ..all hoses/pipes, connections are solid and tight

Turns out that Because of the IPD upgrades the chassis setting of SPORT was needed rather than COMFORT. So there you have it 😉

Cheers
